Burn Injuries

A burn injury can be one of the most devastating injuries a person can sustain, both physically and emotionally. Victims who suffer from burn injuries can face a lifetime of serious healthcare challenges. We have obtained millions of dollars for our past clients, and we will do everything we can to help you recover the compensation you deserve.

Burn accidents can take place almost anywhere, and they usually happen when you least expect it. Many burn victims have suffered their injuries as a result of defective products or improperly maintained property. As a consequence of such negligence, some have spent years in painful rehabilitation and going through extensive reconstructive surgeries in an attempt to rebuild their lives. Such medical treatment is usually extremely expensive. Because we are experienced with burn injury cases, we understand all of the medical costs involved. We also
routinely make home and hospital visits. We go the extra mile for our clients, and we believe our experience and personal attention make us different than most other attorneys.

From a medical standpoint, burns are categorized into 3 degrees:

  • First-degree burns are red and highly sensitive to touch. First-degree burns involve minimal tissue damage to the outer-layer of skin causing pain, redness and swelling.
  • Second-degree burns affect both the outer-layer (epidermis) and the under lying layer of skin (dermis) causing redness, pain, swelling and blisters. These burns often affect sweat glands and hair follicles. If a deep second-degree burn is not properly treated, swelling and decreased blood flow in the tissue can result in the burn becoming a third-degree burn.
  • Third-degree burns affect the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis, causing charring of skin or a translucent white color, with coagulated vessels visible just below the skin surface. Healing from third-degree burns is very slow due the skin tissue and structures being destroyed. Third-degree burns usually result in extensive scarring.
